BBC Science Simulations

BBC Science Simulations 1 (Grades K-2) is the perfect piece of software to show students how things work in the world. It allows students to explore seven different experiments from making plants grow to connecting electrical circuits. The simulations provide the students with the ability to predict, carry out, and evaluate the investigations.

BBC Science Simulations 2 (Grades 1-3) provides another seven virtual science investigations. Students can watch how shadows move throughout the day or pick the best thermal insulator out of some given materials. A questions section allows students to get ideas for investigations that students can complete on their own. This version also provides the option for students to control variables and can get instant results.

BBC Science Simulations 3 (Grades 4-6) is an even more in depth teaching tool to support and enhance the teaching of science investigation skills. It provides seven more different investigations for the students to learn from. It also provides the users to access graphs and tables to understand the results and give students a focus on interpretation and scientific explanation. Also, it provides the option to view two investigations at the same time to directly compare two experiments.

You can order all three of these pieces of software separately or in a discounted bundle pack.

It is important to understand that BBC Science Simulations (1, 2, 3 and bundle) comes in four different flavors. There is the School Edition, the Lab Pack, the Site License, and the Network License. The single user comes with one license that can be installed onto 1 computer. The Lab Pack comes with 5 licenses that can be installed onto 5 computers. The Site License comes with 25 licenses that can be installed on 25 different computers. The Network License comes with 50 concurrent licenses that can be installed on as many computers as you want, but is limited to one location and requires the use of a server. For example, you have a lab of 100 computers; you can load the software on all 100 computers and access the software, just as long as there aren’t more than 50 users on at any given moment. If you need more than 50 users on simultaneously, you can buy two network licenses and have 100 concurrent users on simultaneously.
